The Catholic Engaged Encounter program was brought over from the United States in 1981 to Singapore. This concept of a 3-day/2-night 44-hour stay-in programme was fully supported by the Archdiocese of Singapore. The first weekend was established in Singapore on September 1982 with 12 participating couples.

From that first weekend, it has now increased to more than 30 couples each weekend. Since the very first weekend, CEE Singapore has served more than 20,000 pre-married couples through the CEE weekends. On 25th August 2017, CEE Singapore celebrated 35 years in Singapore.
